Learnapalooza Chicago is a weekend-long summer festival of free workshops on June 25th and June 26th in Chicago.
It was founded in 2010 when Sarah Press, founder of peer learning startup CommuniTeach that helps neighbors learn for free throughout the year, met Maggie Schutz, a fellow Chicagoan who had heard about an event called Learnapalooza DC and wanted to bring the model to Chicago. The teamed up with Brian Bullington and several other fantastic volunteers to translate their festival idea into a reality.
In its inaugural year, Learnapalooza featured 77 workshops taught at 16 venues and attended by more than 400 Chicagoans – topics included yoga, This year we are looking to grow it even further. CommuniTeach will also offer free community-led workshops throughout the year to continue to spread free learning throughout Chicago and other cities.
